Safety when gardening

In autumn, do-it-yourselfers in the garden rely on ladders, small scaffolding and work planks in professional quality "Made in Germany".

Press release

The hot summer has ended and for hobby gardeners and do-it-yourselfers the most important work of the year gets underway in autumn: the house and garden have to be made ready for winter. Self-producers bring in the last fruit and vegetable harvest and major pruning is due on the trees or hedges. To ensure that nothing happens during all work at heights and that everything runs accident-free, users should rely on functional tools and stable, safe climbing aids: experts advise the "Made in Germany" seal of quality here.

"When the leaves turn colourful and it gets colder outside, there is a lot to do for hobby gardeners. Autumn is the main time to work in the garden and around the house. It is especially important to pay attention to safety. Because accidents in the house and garden happen faster than you think," knows access technology expert Ferdinand Munk from Günzburg.

Every year there are millions of accidents in German households. The most frequent cause is falls. This is shown in a study by the Robert Koch Institute. "Still too many do-it-yourselfers buy the most expensive chainsaw or hedge trimmer and climb with it onto a rickety, wobbly ancient ladder or completely unsuitable and unsafe makeshift equipment such as a beer crate," says Munk.

But: Especially when using ladders, scaffolding or work planks, up-to-date quality products from the specialised trade are the first choice, because they fulfil all safety regulations.

What makes a ladder safe

A high-quality ladder is characterised by robust step and rung connections and sufficiently large platforms. The ladder shoe, i.e. the support on the ground, is also particularly important. Here, the 2-axis inclination technology is currently considered the measure of all things. The flexibility of the ladder shoe perfects the full-surface ground support. This ensures maximum stability.

Here, the way leads to the specialised trade. "There you can find high-quality processed climbing aids 'Made in Germany'. In addition, the products offer a quality guarantee of up to 15 years. Here, the user can also be sure that all climbing aids comply with the applicable standards and regulations. In addition, do-it-yourselfers and hobby gardeners can get competent advice at the specialised trade on which work equipment is the right choice for different purposes," says expert Munk.

The right choice of equipment

Ladders are suitable for selective work on level ground. For example, to hang bird feeders for the winter months. For large-scale work such as repairs to the house façade or hedge trimming, experts recommend mobile small scaffolds or stable work planks. "These solutions combine safety with comfort. They are quickly erected and just as quickly stowed away in the garage or tool shed. Thanks to the platforms, they also offer enough space. Especially when you need to have the paint bucket, the tool box or the hedge trimmer within reach, planks and small scaffolds are the ideal choice," explains Munk.

Quality made in Germany

MUNK Günzburger Steigtechnik's quality products, such as the handy and very stable ML ladder, the ML work plank as well as the flexible multi-purpose ladders and multi-purpose ladders with nivello ladder shoes including the 2-axis inclination technology, have recently won several awards in product tests of the leading do-it-yourself magazines.

"Innovations 'Made in Germany' are the ideal companions for a wide range of work around the house and garden due to their versatility and high-quality safety features. If more do-it-yourselfers and gardeners rely on professional tools in the future, the number of accidents in the home could decrease significantly," Munk emphasises.
