Ladder length with known vertical height

Minimum length of ladder or stairs

Our table contains the minimum lengths required of ladders and stairs to safely reach a given vertical height. Essentially, the next-highest ladder length or stair length from our product range is recommended.

Example to calculate the minimum length:

  • Vertical height (upper contact point) = 6.00 m
  • Use of a rung ladder with a 70° inclination angle
  • Formula: vertical height in m x factor 1.064 = minimum ladder length in m
  • 6.0 m x 1.064 = 6.40 m

All values are rounded up to 5 cm.

Worth knowing: The Ordinance on Safety and Health demands that ladders, step stools and other working equipment represent the state of the art.
