Folding scaffolding
What’s the difference between mobile scaffolds and folding scaffolds?
Folding scaffolding is mobile scaffolding with a particular design. The central component is the folding frame unit. This consists of two scaffold frames connected by hinges. The hinges generally lock automatically into place, ensuring the unit is stable. The folding frame makes the main scaffold structure compact for easier transport and storage. When it is folded out, all that’s needed is to add the platform(s) and railing frames.
Where can folding scaffolding be used?
A folding scaffolding is also know as a hinged scaffold. Folding scaffolding can be used indoors or outdoors. This kind of mobile work platform is especially popular for indoor work, e.g. for working on ceilings or walls. However, folding scaffolding may also be used outside, e.g. as a work platform for cutting hedges in the garden.
Will folding scaffolding fit through doors?
The basic width of the frame of many folding scaffolds is between 70 cm and 80 cm. Folding scaffolding can therefore be pushed through doorways. Much larger models also exist, however. Pay attention on purchase and check the dimensions if you need folding scaffolding that fits through doorways. The folding mechanism also enables scaffolding to be easily carried from floor to floor, and rapidly erected and dismantled. If folding scaffolding is made of aluminium, the weight is also a lot more manageable.
How many people does it take to erect folding scaffolding?
For folding scaffolding from MUNKI Günzburger Steigtechnik, at least two persons are required to erect it.
How high can you work on folding scaffolding?
The main benefits of folding scaffolding are gained at low heights. However, they can be extended upwards, like other mobile scaffolding. The 0.75 x 1.80 m folding scaffold with outriggers, for example, offers a maximum platform height of 10.8 m. Based on typical calculation methods, this results in a working or reach height of 12.8 m. The 1.35 x 1.80 m folding scaffold with outriggers comes to a maximum platform height of up to 11.8 m and a 13.8 m working or reach height. To ensure the necessary stability, the required ballast weights vary depending on the height.
