Client's Request and Task
The project goal was to develop a modular roof working platform, specifically designed for maintenance work on train roofs. The construction had to ensure flexible adaptability in the length dimension while allowing user-friendly assembly. It was essential to create a working environment that prioritizes ergonomics and safety for the maintenance personnel. Additionally, the working platform had to offer stability and reliability while complying with the relevant standards to meet our client's high requirements.

Our Solution
Modular Working Platform System
We developed a system consisting of two roof working platforms, which can be positioned on both the left and right sides of a train. Each side consists of four individual modules and three insert platforms, which can be extended to a total length of up to 40 meters without a staircase.
Flexibility and Adaptability
The platform height can be manually adjusted in 100 mm increments using a hand crank and a toothed rack, which enables customised height adjustment. The individual modules are equipped with a trolley so that they can be easily positioned and adjusted.
Safety Features and Ergonomics
The roof working platform offers optimal safety through fall protections, such as self-closing safety doors and foldable as well as telescopic railings at the front and back. Additionally, the support frames are clad with perforated sheet metal, providing extra protection and simultaneously reinforcing the structure.
Accessibility and Protection
Accessibility is ensured by variostairs, which are protected from unauthorized access by an enclosure with a self-closing door. The foldable angle on the train-facing longitudinal side protects the train from damage and provides a safe and comfortable work area for the personnel.
Technical Specifications and Construction
With a variable platform length of up to 40 metres and an adjustable platform height of 3,000 mm to 4,500 mm, our solution meets the technical requirements for a wide range of train types. Stability and load capacity are guaranteed with a surface load of 1.5 kN/m² and a total load of 500 kg.
