Client's Request and Task

In an industry where precision and efficiency are of utmost importance, our client approached us with the specific request to optimize the assembly processes of excavators. The goal was to develop a solution that not only significantly reduces the setup times of excavators but also improves the working conditions for the assembly teams. The challenge was to construct a slewing ring work platform that seamlessly integrates into existing workflows and simultaneously sets new standards in terms of ergonomics and safety. Particular emphasis was placed on a stable and reliable construction that not only meets but exceeds all applicable standards.

A key part of the task was therefore to design the platform in such a way that it allows for quick setup of the excavator through an innovative, rotatable platform. Our Solution

Platform with Access Stairs
The slewing ring work platform was equipped with a comfortable access staircase, securely attached to the support structure of the slewing ring and offering handrails on both sides.

Stable Support Structure
The solid support structure of the slewing ring is fixed with floor plates and holds the rotatable platform, which can be locked at this point. A support cross with wheels on the outside provides additional stability and flexibility.

Rotatable Platform
The walkway is rotatable by 360° and has a locking mechanism. The operation of the rotatable platform is manual and can be swiveled over the access in the resting position.

Safety in Focus
A surrounding rigid railing ensures safety, while a segment of the railing in the middle on the product-facing side is removable to facilitate access. The platform frame is additionally equipped with a protective hose in the area of the removable railing.

Technical Specifications
The slewing ring work platform features a non-slip surface thanks to the ribbed aluminum covering. With a platform length of 4100 mm, of which 3300 mm are rotatable, a platform height of 1600 mm, and a width of 850 mm, it offers ample space for efficient work. The access staircase is ergonomically designed with a 45° inclination and a step width of 800 mm. The maximum load capacity of the platform is 300 kg, highlighting the robustness and reliability of our construction.
